From improvisation to lovely tradition\, from modern quilting to quilting bee quilts\, each quilt holds a few lessons about how to pull together a bunch of blocks or rows or shapes\, or whatever! \n\n\n\nThere are bed-size quilts and wall quilts\, fancy quilting and basic stitches\, bright colors and demure palettes. \n\n\n\nThe lecture will be at the church over Zoom using the big screens!

DESCRIPTION:  “Just A Big Ole Tote” \n\n\n\nWe will be weaving a large tote with a woven solid base of 8″x16″x13″. The base will be locked in with 3 rows of quarter inch flat oval reed. The sides will be woven with 10 rows of 3/4 inch flat reed with 3 sets of 3 rows of dyed quarter flat oval reed as an accent pattern. This tote has a 10 inch open notch push in handle. I’ll have several fabrics that we will look at to learn how to choose what will work and what won’t. We’ll look at your fabrics and discuss them from a fussy cutting perspective. \nWe’ll play with the magic mirror and your phone until you choose your very favorite design\, and learn to look for designs that are well-suited to this particular design. \nYou don’t have to have any experience but if you’ve handled a needle it’ll be lots easier. Most information is applicable to any kind of English Paper Piecing\, not just Lucy Boston. \n\nWe’ll touch on fussy cutting techniques- how to choose and coordinate the best fabrics\, looking for the characteristics that make a fabric great for fussy cutting and use in EPP projects.\nWe’ll see a kaleidoscope of possibilities using a magic mirror and your camera.\nI’ll demonstrate how to “Swiss cheese” your fabric\, and give you some ideas of how to use those tiny irregular  pieces.\nI’ll show you the basic 4-4-8-8 Patchwork of the crosses layout and the endless combinations you can get from that simple design!\nWe’ll discuss different supplies and what I recommend.\nI’ll show you my favorite stitch\, the Flat Back Stitch.\nWe’ll look at different settings and other things you can do with a block… or a lot of blocks!\nI’ll introduce you to some other EPP obsessions! \n\n \n
